Processing Aid & Oil
A processing aid is a material which when added to a rubber compound improves production and processability without influencing the physical properties of the finished product. These processing aids are used to:
1. Facilitate Mixing
2. Facilitate down line processing which leads to faster production
3. Reduce complication in production methods which leads to reduction in time and energy input
4. Result in less scrap, thus positively affects the economics and quality of the article
Various kind of processing aids includes
- Dispersing Agent – Improve filler dispersion
- Lubrication Agent – Improve compound flow/release
- Chemical Peptizer – Reduce polymer viscosity by chain scission
- Physical Peptizer - Reduce polymer viscosity by internal lubiraction
- Homogenizing Agent – Improve polymer blend and compound uniformity
- Tackifier – Improve green tack and homogenizing benefit
- Plasticizer – Improve product performance under extreme condition
- Curative Dispersion – Ease of handling
- Mould Release Agent – Improve product release without contamination
- Mould Cleaning Compound – Insitu mould cleaning
